Required Tools:
Retractable razor blade, squeegee, tape measure or ruler, and a spray bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol or soapy water.
Optional:
For easier positioning, lightly mist both the application surface and adhesive side of the graphic with water. This reduces initial tack for more flexibility during placement, but increases drying time to 15-20 minutes.
Surface Preparation:
All surfaces must be clean and dry before application. Use glass cleaner on windows and automotive detergent on metal or painted surfaces. Wipe dry with a lint-free cloth to ensure proper adhesion.
Step 1: Position and Tape in Place
Align the graphic using a horizontal reference line. Use masking tape on the corners to hold it temporarily. Apply a strip of masking tape across the top edge to create a hinge.
Step 2: Remove the Release Liner
Carefully hinge the graphic upward. Slowly peel the release liner away from one corner, working gradually across until fully removed. Keep the graphic taut.
Step 3: Apply the Graphic
Using a squeegee, begin at the center and work outward with firm, smooth strokes. Apply even pressure to push out air and ensure adhesion. Go over the entire graphic once more to ensure full contact.
Step 4: Remove Masking Tape
Slowly remove the transfer tape by pulling it back flat against the surface. Watch carefully to ensure the vinyl stays properly adhered. Trim edges with a razor blade if needed.
Application Tip:
If small air bubbles appear, use an X-Acto knife tip to gently release trapped air and smooth the vinyl down.
